Christmas Lunch - December 2013
How wonderful is it to share a meal together? Students of L.E.A.P. are treated to a Christmas Lunch put on by the teachers. It is always a fun time.
Paper Airplane Challenge
Students competed in groups in order to complete this challenge. The longest paper airplane that flew the farthest distance won.
Balloon Furniture Challenge
Students had to create a piece of furniture out of balloons that would sustain the weight of one of their group members for more than thirty seconds. Each group was given 25 balloons and a roll of tape to use. They could not use any other supplies.
Christmas Luncheon
Students created placemats for each other with words of encouragement. Without the students knowing the placemats were laminated and used during a spaghetti luncheon the teachers cooked as a surprise for the students.
Camp Fircom
In May, students of L.E.A.P. attended Camp Fircom on Gambier Island for two nights. Students participated in sea kayaking and canoeing, hiked Mount Artaban, did archery, beading, swimming and had evening campfires. The leadership component of the trip required students to participate in service learning activities around the camp. Students moved logs, gardened, built equipment, cleared large areas of debris and built a fire to burn the debris collected around the camp. We left Camp Fircom with many memories.
