Welcome!
L.A. Matheson Secondary school is a designated inner-city school located in the Surrey School District #36, with a population of just over 1,300 students. L.E.A.P. was created with the intention of offering students an opportunity to learn in a differentiated, hands-on and experiential environment. It is in integrated curriculum program where students complete all of their required credits over the course of the year. Similar to the elementary model, students spend their year in one class completing their course work. A major component of the program is the opportunity for students to participate in field studies outside of the classroom, in connection to curriculum. Classroom environment is very important to the success of L.E.A.P. and as a result a lot of time is spent on team building activities and building a positive classroom environment. The ability for a student to learn is greatly enhanced when a safe and fun learning environment is provided. The theme of the program is 'Canadian Identity', which the curriculum lends itself nicely to. One of the goals of L.E.A.P. is to help develop students' involvement in community service and environmental sustainability. To learn more about the program, see the 'Program Information' tab.
